REVIEW: Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - "Eye Spy"

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Oct 15 - H 2013

After last night episode, Agent’s of SHIELD has my full attention. The episode proved that the show can stand on it’s own. This week, Agent Coulson encounters an old protégé that he trained and thought dead several years earlier before the Avengers takes place.

This episode was a game changer especially for Agent Coulson, the scene with May and Amador definitely made you think: What did SHIELD really do to Agent Coulson and could it change the way we look at him.

Pascale Armand’s performance was amazing, the chemistry that her and Clark Gregg share on screen was a good fit. The attitude that she brings to the table in this episode that had a “lone wolf, badass” to it was a perfect fit for the character. I hope to see her in more episodes.

My expectations for Agent May where definitely met this week. She shows that she isn’t that much trusting of Coulson’s old comrade but she still has back (and he better not question it). The mini chick fight between May and Amador was badass moment so far this season. Since the show has been picked up for a full season I hope that they dedicate an episode arc to Agent May, because her story needs telling.

It was cute to have Skye and Coulson have little moments in this episode, feels like a calm before the storm before the big reveal that changes their relationship next week. Now onto the Fitz/Simmons analysis part, I find them likable now with each passing episode. You can tell someone has different writing responsibilities for these characters, just keep them engaging and witty and they will become more useful in future episodes.

Last night’s episode of Agent’s of SHIELD proved that more fun, action, and secrets are to come in these next episodes. The kinks in the armor are starting to smooth out as the show finds its wings as it prepares itself for flight.
I give this fourth episode of Agents of SHIELD an 87/100

Next week's episode shows the return of Extremist and (according to my pal/editor @KnightGambit) Asian Johnny Storm.
