Earlier today, director James Gunn (Super, Slither) took to his official Facebook account to reveal some cool new details regarding Guardians Of The Galaxy. Gunn reveals that composer Tyler Bates (Watchmen, Sucker Punch) will in fact score the highly anticipated Marvel film. Gunn also revealed how he planned to use the music on set? Using a rather new technique, Gunn revealed a very interesting way of shooting a movie. Bates has scored one of the best (and underrated) comic book movies of all time in 2009's Watchmen, and with Gunn at the helm and Bates providing the score, we could be in for a rather badass Guardians of The Galaxy film. Here's an excerpt from Gunn's Facebook page:
"I'm grateful to be working with my favourite composer, Tyler Bates, on 'Guardians Of The Galaxy'. Unlike most films, Tyler writes huge chunks of the score first so that I can actually film to the music. During action scenes and huge dramatic moments we blare the score on set so that the cast, crew and camera can movie in harmony with the music. Music is often an afterthought in film, but never for us. And everything Tyler's done so far has been amazing!"
There's a little Watchmen fan in all of us. With Tyler Bates composing the anticipated film, how do you think the score will sound? Could we be into a more techno sound or would we be in for a rather simple score? Guardians Of The Galaxy hits theatres August 1st, 2014.
