UPDATE #3: Is G.I. JOE: RETALIATION Director Jon Chu Set To Replace J.J Abrams For STAR TREK 3?

How we all doing? Latino-Review reports that G.I. Joe: Retaliation director, Jon Chu is the front runner to replace J.J Abrams as director of the highly anticipated Star Trek 3. Now for all of you wondering "how legit is this rumour?" well, Latino-Review have been more than right on more than one occasion in the past. A couple of year's back they reported that Khan would be the villain in Star Trek Into Darkness. Latino-Review said: "I waited on this because I wanted to confirm this and all I got was “no comment” and another source said “he’s a contender.” So if this rumour is 100% legit, how do you feel? I mean, sure Jon Chu hasn't made the best films, but to be fair he hasn't really had the best source material to make a great film. I mean G.I. Joe? Justin Bieber? Those are horrible basis' for a movie. Now, I'm going to give Jon Chu a chance, how about you? And plus, maybe he can bring Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson in? Huh? That'd be a dope addition to the already badass Star Trek franchise. Star Trek 3 is set to hit theatres everywhere sometime, 2016.

UPDATE: Thanks to a local Twitter pal, we have some news that this rumour may not be legit. Steven Weintraub, from Collider reports that the he has heard other names, but doesn't deny the rumour of Chu.

UPDATE #2 - Jon M Chu's official publicist has since come out to deny any rumor about him directing Star Trek 3 via /Film:
“No one has contacted Jon or his reps about this project.”
Jon M Chu may have just been on a shortlist of directors Paramount is considering though not an offical offer.....

UPDATE #3 - Writing duo Roberto Orci & Alex Kurtzman are set to return for the third film.
"The two are in negotiations to write the next Star Trek outing for Paramount and Skydance Productions. "
