EDITORIAL: "What If" David Goyer gets inspiration from "Batman/Superman: Apocalypse" not "The Dark Knight Returns"

"What If" writer David Goyer is getting his inspiration from Batman/Superman: Apocalypse

A few months back at SDCC Zack Snyder and David Goyer announced ther sequel to Man of Steel...this time gonna introduce The Dark Knight himself! Recently cast as Ben Affleck. Now during the panel they read a line from The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller:

"I want you to remember Clark. In all the days to come, in all your private moments. I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember, the one man who beat you"

This lead to much speculation that the due will be taking inspirations from Frank Millers "The Dark Knight Returns" even though Snyder clearly said they are not. Now after watching the DC Universe Animated Features "Batman/Superman: Worlds Finest" and "Batman/Superman: Apocalypse" I'm convinced this is where they are drawing their inspiration.

Lets look at the facts that we KNOW from 'Man of Steel':

We all saw the Lexcorp tower and Lexcorp oil trucks in the film. This obviously means multi-millionaire Lex Luthor is alive and well in the Man of Steel Universe. How powerful is he? Who knows! This could directly into Batman/Superman: Public Enemies. In the film Lex Luthor becomes president and is secretly trying to destroy Superman but Batman teams up with him to thwart yes thwart the mad man's plans.

Now during the first act of the film when Clark first discovers the "Fortress of Solitude" there was a quick glimpse of pods with dead body's in them.....beside one. To explain this was used in a prelude comic book written by David Goyer himself. The comic centers around the house of El during the final moments on Krypton. This also included the House of Zor-El brother of Jor-El. This revolves around Kara Zorl-El who is a child at the time.their children into space destined for earth.

As we all know the story is that Kal-El came through the wormhole first. Kara doesn't come through the wormhole until Kal is already an adult. So even though Kara was older then Kal when they left Krypton when she gets to Earth her age was slowed down that shes only a teenager.

This leads directly into the film Batman/Superman: Apocalypse. Kara shows up on earth and finds her cousin Kal. He teaches her to control her powers but in doing so it grabs the attention of Darksied. He wants to brain wash her and use her as a weapon.

If they introduce Kara in Batman vs Superman it could take elements from both films. Lex becomes president and is the main antagonist but also introduce Kara. This doesn't mean Darkseid is the main antagonist cause thats Lex but definitely could foreshadow his existence which would lead into Justice League of America!

See the connection?! They could simply take elements from all three! But this is a simple observation...

Batman vs Superman hits July 2015!
